Keeping up with the Kandasamys - Durban Premiere

I Heart Verulam had the privilege of attending the premiere of Keeping up with the Kandasamys, which was held at Ster Kinerkor, Gateway on 16th of February 2017.

Double the trouble and double the fun! Set in Chatsworth, this rib-tickling journey into South African Indian culture will leave in stitches and tears. Fun, insight, quirky and emotional! Keeping up with the Kandasamys is a beautiful, well thought out feature with excellent production value.

KUWTK is set to be a treat for South African Indians! Set in Chatsworth, Durban, it gives us a sneak peek into a culture filled with diversity, difference, and delicacy.

We were treated to a read carpet entrance in the below order:

1. Kemraj - Desan (youngest son of Shanti and Preggie)

2. Koobeshan Naidoo - Elvis (husband of Jennifer)

3. Rajesh Gopie - Preggie (husband of Shanti)

4. Mariam Bassa – Aya (Elvis mom and Jennifer's mom-in-law)

5. Madhushan Singh – Prishen (son of Shanti and Preggie – love interest)

6. Maeshni Naicker – Shanti

7. Jailoshini Naidoo – Jennifer

8. Rory Booth  (Co-writer and Actor)

9. Jayan Moodley (Co-writer and Director)

10. Helena Spring  (Producer) 

Keeping up with the Kandasamys was a delight to watch. It was entertaining and emotional. Jailoshi Naidoo and Maeshni Naicker have great chemistry and brilliant comedic timing. Madhushan Singh and Mishqah Parthiephal are young, talented, sweet and have a great future ahead of them.

As captain of the creative ship, Jayan Moodley has beautifully steered the cast and crew on what seems to have been an exciting journey in making the film. Writer and filmmaker Jayan Moodley has not failed to deliver. Neither have the talented cast and crew.

The evening beautiful, the food delicious and the movie was awesome. We don’t want to give much away, rather we would like to encourage you to go out to support local cinema. Take your friends and family along…and your neighbours!
